Zanussi DF 62/26 Ice Build Up in Fridge

Hi

Zanussi DF 62/26 has served me well. It is an old model but has started to build up a big ball of ice just below the back plate that is inside the fridge, for 5-6 months, otherwise cooling is OK. Within days of defrosting this ice and cleaning the fridge as per instruction manual, it builds up again. In addition, any fresh food touching the walls or left in the salad crispers gets frozen and the salad crispers also get stuck to the bottom of the fridge compartment through a thin ice layer.

Any solutions/sugestions are welcome?

Unfortunately this is the death nell of your fridge/freezer….however the small bit of good news is that it will not stop actually cooling because of this fault, however the ice-ball will get bigger more and more quickly.

The cause is the cooling pipes to the fridge are mounted too close to the fridge liner and eventually the steep temperature gradient from the pipes to the liner causes the insulation to fail at that point for which there is no effective cure 🙁

Hi Tiger, just do a search in the forums for Hotpoint and/or Indesit as they’re the same thing pretty much. 😉

We don’t rate them.
