ParticipantHi i purchased a Zanussi washing machine in Feb of last year and only had the one year warranty with it,the drum motor has fallen off i managed to refit the motor but the machine is not washing now. My question is are Zanussi still liable for this major breakdown or is it tough luck you are outside the manufactures garauntee?

I’ve never heard such a weird tale. Motor falling off, really? Wind up? What model is this you refer to anyway?

If it is a Chinese made unit with a sealed drum in it then anything is possible. :rolls:

it is a ZWH7160P AND IT IS NO WIND UP THE MACHINE HAS BEEN GETTING LOUDER DURING SPIN CYCLE RECENTLY BUT DECIDED TO LEAVE IT UNTIL I HAD TIME BUT THE OTHER DAY IT MADE A BIG LOUD NOISE AND THE ELECTRICITY TRIPPED. I TOOK OFF THE BACK PANEL AND COULD SEE THE MOTOR HANGING DOWN WITH THE BELT OFF WHEN I DRAGGED THE MACHINE OUT I COULD SEE TWO OF THE SECURING BOLTS ON THE FLOOR. I FITTED THE BELT AND MOTOR BACK ON BUT NOW IT WONT FILL I THINK ITS CAUSED AN ELECTRICAL FAULT IN THE CIRCUIT BOARD BUT WAS WONDERING IF ZANUSSI WOULD STILL BE LIABLE.

Water anywhere, has it cracked the drum. Personally I’d be arguing a case that it was inherently faulty at the time of purchase and there for the shop is liable

If it was faulty at time of purchase then how did it work perfectly for 16/17 months?
OP makes no mention of water anywhere and cracks in the drum are caused by metal objects such as coins, keys, nails etc left in pockets 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time.
He/she also admits to ignoring a loud noise and continuing to use the machine. :rolls:

To prove an inherent fault is very difficult and, the owner would need to prove it to have a valid claim.
As Jim quite rightly points out, it’s been working fine for a considerable period of time and is therefore most likely simply an unfortunate failure, perhaps unusual but that in itself does not prove an inherent fault.
Zanussi or, more accurately Electrolux, will have no liability at all, that lies with the retailer if you can prove that there was an inherent defect.
To prove an inherent defect you would need to get a hold of a report from an independent source that will state that this is the case categorically and can prove that. Again, very difficult and potentially expensive as well.

Phoned Zanussi and got through to a service centre who e-mailed the top man they have agreed to repair the machine but will not pay the engineers fee which I have been told is £60 (whatever the fault) so not a bad outcome apart from the fact my wife could not do without a washer so we went out and bought a new washer only to get home and receive the phone call a few hours later. But all is not lost as my son is buying a new house and has not got a washer so he can have it.

No way Jose bought a Candy from the closed Hoover factory near me they are still selling stock dirt cheap had a new model candy 8kg for under £200 wich is probably £100 cheaper than shop price with 3 year garauntee.
