PNC 91609335703 Can’t figure this one out. It’s a relatively simple version with only a knob and three buttons. I can get into diagnostics and run the checks and it heats fine on both high and low but start a programme and there’s no heat. Checked ntc and it seems fine, starting out at 4.3k in cold garage and rapidly dropping to 1.2k under the influence of warm breath.
One thing I would like to understand (maybe it’s in the service manual but I haven’t read it thoroughly yet) is how the machine tests for conductivity as I could find no wiring other than that leading to door, heater, ntc, motor and input. Also drum seems all of a piece so what’s all that about shorting it out for step 7 of the test and all within 1 second? Is this thing Chinese, there’s something cheap and nasty feeling about it? Cannot get an alarm code out of it despite sveral attempts 😡 .
Later… :study: Ok so it doesn’t have a sensor. So how does it have auto drying cycles as in, “cupboard dry” etc.?

Those values I found for ntc are a bit lower than would be expected according to manual although I didn’t actually measure temperatures. Is it likely that a thermistor would go faulty in such a way as to give 20 to 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} lower resistance readings than expected?
Also, approximately what temperature range would be “expected” in the front vent there where the air has just been drawn through the drum?
New ntc is getting on for £25 at Connect and I’m sure I’d never use it if it turned out not to be needed here.

Dunno Mike TBH but the manual states that the NTC readings @ 20c should be between 6.3 K(max) and 5.7K (min).

You mentioned cold garage and as you know if it gets to +5C or lower the dryer ain’t gonna play anyway. So maybe that’s the problem?

Well, I didn’t know that although I’d read about an issue somewhere with some t/dryers or other. I doubt it was that cold mind you, we have got the Gulf Stream keeping us relatively warm down here 😀 . If I can’t think of anything else, I’ll try substituting in a 5k6 resistor such as I carry around for module repairs. That should make it “think” it’s summer and OK to start working again. If not that, I think I might pass them on to serviceforce, as I can do without these headaches.

Have rung customer as was thinking of popping in tomorrow. He’s going to try putting on a fan heater in there and if that doesn’t work I’ll order the ntc.. Had thought by now this might have attracted some more comments about trade vs. retail prices.
P’raps I’ll find the Connect prices thread and add it on to that.

Went back with new ntc. Re-measured old one and got strange, all over the place readings 😕 . Fitted new ntc and all OK now.
    Thanks for the pointer Martin.
