Our dishwasher started to smell of something getting hot, when I opened it the water level was about 1 inch lower than normal and was just covering the big circular stainless steel filter. The heating element was completely out of the water so I think this was what was causing the smell.

I read the article about how the fill system works on a Zanussi and found I have the “Blue Tubes” variant, I cleaned the tubes but they were not blocked so I then cleaned the transfer hose but that was not blocked. Whilst I had it in pieces I decided to remove the water sump to check all the pipe outlets but none were blocked.

When I blow down the pipe to the pressure switch it clicks, I did not test it electrically as I don’t know how. Is there a guide for pressure switch testing?

Is there anything else I should check?

    Thanks in advance

I strongly suspect that the sump is blocked internally. This can be problematic to clear & sometimes the sump needs to be replaced.
