ParticipantI have a fairly vintage DW925 (11 yrs old, Production Number 911814011). One of the door hinge springs has broken and fallen off, so that the door drops like a stone and puts everyone’s knees and ankles, and the hinges, at risk!
Three questions
❓ Firstly, whilst it looks like I could just replace the spring (the hinge mechanism looks OK otherwise as far as I can see peering up from underneath the machine) for about £6-7, it seems from checking with a couple of online spares suppliers that I can only purchase a complete hinge assembly circa £35. Is this correct?
❓ Secondly, how do I remove the dishwasher body to get at and replace the hinge/spring? The body appears to be welded together as a single unit. I’ve removed the obvious screws (just behind the foot of the door) and the grey panel at the foot of the machine, but this doesn’t reveal the hinge mechanism and the body still doesn’t want to come off. Are there other screws (e.g. underneath) that I have to release, or any other wrinkles/problems I need to know about?
❓ Or is this something I should leave to a repair engineer as too difficult 🙁
Thanks

Goatboy wrote:There springs are available for other models of Zanussi. But for yours, it’s the whole assembly. If someone sells you the wrong size springs, you’ll have real problems. The door might not shut and could leak. 🙁
I don’t think it’s worth the risk for a £20 saving.
As for dissmantling the dishwasher, I can advise you only so far, for safety reasons.
This is a very tough job! If you can’t get to the springs with the advise I’ve given you, you should call an engineer.
You could try this link…
Unplug the machne before you attempt any repair.

Hinges & springs come as a kit, which is as a pair.
You may think it a bit much to have to replace the lot, but the difference is amazing.
You can source the parts via the site, or a repairer from Repairs@

Alex, Goatboy. Thanks for the info. Tried to find the part in the ukwhitegoods Shop@, to no avail (tried dw925, zanussi, door hinge, door hinges, zanussi hinge etc etc…).
Best offer I’ve had elsewhere is £33.19 from KUA online.

I’m sure Dave (the parts master) will offer a link, when he’s got 5 minutes. 😀

OK, final question. Would you be able to supply a pair of lower spray arm nozzles for the DW925 as well? I can’t find them in the Shop@ either …
Old one looks like this (yes, it’s had to be glued back in with chemical metal ….):

Hi Dave. Unfortunately, what arrived was Part Number 50223761003, which are grey, rectangular section, and won’t fit. The originals are white, and with a rounded-end section (see photograph earlier in the thread).
Can you send me a pair of the right ones, soonest, please? Happy to return the erroneous ones (where to?).

Electrolux have superseded the part number from 50223678009 to 50223761003 so in theory they should fit, but I have had exactly this problem before on a few occasions, the only solution quite often is to fit a complete lower spray arm (modified by Electrolux).
I’ll confirm on Monday when I can ask them directly 🙂
Dave.

Complete lower spray arm is the answer. Not too expensive.
You will find the new one will only have 1 nozzle. Supposed to be like that, all the nozzle does is wash the debris off the main filter into the sump filter.
