ParticipantHello, not been on here for a while which is kind of a good thing I suppose. Dryer was chuntering away as normal today then heard a ” Phfutt ” and house socket circuit tripped. Quick check round house and nothing obvious so reset the mcb and everything restarted OK – odd! Five minutes pass and SWMBO tells me dryer is turning but not heating. Had a close sniff and now notice slight smell of burnt something at area of control panel. Stripped it down and PCB is blackened around area at top right as you look from front just below and to the left of where the 3 small connections plug in on the back side. My abilities stop at electronics albeit I’m competent enough at the strip/rebuild part. Obviously its terminal for the PCB but ideas as to the cause would be welcome before I seek out a replacement. The PCB has a sticker with Elux 125113041 and GE 452905001 if that helps any.

Help, is my deodorant not working or have I said something to offend? Even a reply to the effect that no-one knows the cause or you need more info would give me hope!

The odd one does slip through the net, 🙂
Only an investigation of all components for earth leaks or short circuits will reveal the reason for failure, the drain pump is a common cause of module failure on Zanussi machines.
We would need the PNC or product number from the rating plate to ID the correct part number, they are very expensive however. 😥

Hi Jim, sorry if I sounded as though I was under pressure from a nagging wife. But guess what – I was! She can’t envisage Christmas without a tumble dryer apparently. Maybe a new way of cooking a turkey? Anyway, while waiting for a reply I contacted firstly, Malin Service at Blantyre to discover the PCB alone is £147.17( inc Vat), secondly, a straight replacement same model dryer via Pricerunner is £254.99. Kinda speaks for itself I guess. Looks like we’re going shopping for a new machine! Thanks for your help and guidance – see you next time!
