ParticipantHello,
Our dishwasher has an intermittent problem that has got worse and worse. We usually use the automatic cycle, and sometimes when it had finished the cycle the interior was cold and the deishes were wet. We’d run the cycle again and it would be ok.
This started off happening once in a blue moon, but now does every cycle. The Intensive (70 degree) cycle is the same.
The Economy (50 degree) seems to work insofar that if you open it mid cycle the water is warm, but the dishes are still wet at the end. This may be normal for the Economy cycle, we’ve never used it before.
Any help appreciated. First thought it was a failing heater element, but wonder whether it’s the thermostat. Or maybe something else?
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

If its heating sometimes then it wont be the element firstly check the wiring connections to both the element and the circuit board for signs of burning if ok check the wiring flexes at the base of the door ther may be an intermitant break if thats ok it could be a dry solder joint under the heater relay on the circuit board. There is no thermostats only an ntc which rarely gives any trouble

Thanks, I’ll do that. Where’s the circuit board? I can strip all the covers off but if you let me know where to start…

Maybe this is simply a drying issue. Have you tried using rinse aid?

Yes, I use rinse aid. Even if the tablets claim to contain rinse aid.
But the interior’s cold when it fails, can’t blame that on lack of rinse aid.

Ok, I have an update, but firstly I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to respond to my post.
I took the panels off and found the main board (behind the buttons on the left?). There were no signs of burnt wiring, and the soldering on the relay was sound.
I saw the wiring flexing at the bottom of the door, I can see how that could cause the wires to fracture over time. Usually the wires break and the insulation remains intact, so instead of replacing them all I decided to leave well enough alone.
Without any obvious faults, I put it all back together and tried it. It’s now done four washes at full temperature, hasn’t done that for months.
I can only imagine that reseating the cables on the board has helped. Hopefully it’ll stay fixed!
So thanks again, I appreciate it.
