    Fridge Freezer Zanussi Z 56/3 W

Disclaimer: I am posting here because I have looked widely across the web for guidance (including the How To Repair A Fridge Freezer guide on here) but there seem to be many, many possible causes so thought an expert might be able to assist. I’m also not convinced that this model features the blown air heat transfer method (there are no obvious air vents, grills or fans) that seems to be listed as a fault cause.

For a few months I’ve noticed that the freezer has been freezing over, particularly around the door. So a couple of weeks back I decided to look into the cause and found a couple of small splits in the seal around the freezer. So I covered the split with some strong tape and defrosted the freezer. I also then noticed huge sheets of ice on the back of the fridge and defrosted them too.
I then powered it back on but it while the fridge light was on there was no sound and no cooling happening. After reading a few things online they suggested it could be timer delays I left it for about an hour and then when i turned on the power the compressor kicked straight in. I thought that was it and all was well. I was away and left it alone for a couple of weeks. Then having just checked it I discovered that the fridge is now ambient temperature and the whirring noise it makes is now non-stop. The freezer is still ice cold.

I suppose since the fridge is warm you would expect it to run continuously but the question is why its not cooling and why it iced over.

    Any help much appreciated! 🙂
