Zanussi FJ1093 door lock fault

We have an old FJ1093 which is doing fine and will have to make do until we have the new kitchen in a couple of months time when a new washer/dryer should take its place.
But we have a problem with the electo-magnet in the door I think.
The machine will only work once the door light comes on but we have to keep slamming the door several times to get the light to come on. Have taken the cover of the magnet side in case it was a build up of dirt/fluff but to no avail. I don’t want to spend a lot on it as it is on borrowed time but I’ve got no clean clothes left and the light is now refusing to come on….
Also it got stuck last week with washing in it as the light went off. had to drain through filter and unplug so door would pop…..

Is it the sort of thing a numbskull with a srewdriver can fit??!!
Do I have to take whole front cover off? 😳 Bit of an amateur here!

We can’t advise on exactly how to fit parts I’m afraid rachel but it’s not too bad this one 😉

If you’re unsure, please ask an engineer to carry the repair out for you, Repairs@ should provide one should it be required 🙂
