ParticipantHi, I hope one of you can help with this problem.
My FJ1093 has started playing up, it seems to fill very slowly, on some programs it will not take powder. The inlet valves seem OK, the pumps seem to work fine, one dose need replacing soon. But its this fill thing that bugs me, It can take 4 hours to do 1 wash. Is there a flow sensor or somthing I can’t see? Do I replace the inlet valves, or the programmer?
Please help this poor old machine to live a bit longer.October 11, 2005 at 3:52 pm #149989litlor

Remove the inlet hoses check the water is coming out quick enough also check the inlet valve filters which could be restricted

hi mate you will need to change the cold water valve only as this is a common fault.

Many thanks for the info, I will try the new cold water valve. I have checked the filters & cold water presure, they seem fine. I will let you hear how it works.
Thanks again.October 25, 2005 at 7:41 pm #149992Andyod

I have replaced both inlet valves, but still no joy. The hot will fill, but the cold not. I have measured the power to the cold valve, It’s not 230v… I think the programe unit is faulty. Am I right? Can I get a new one?

Have you got selfbore taps clamped onto the pipes feeding the cold water to the machine?

No self bore taps, all put in correctly. It colud be the cold fill only thats working, I may have swiched the wires to the valves. But the problem remains, fills quickly now, but only one valve will open, both are new. I have 230vac on one, measured when it fills, but only 25vac on the other, it shows 0volts when no fill is required. Is it a broken program unit? Do I bother looking further, or scrap the bugger. Your words of wisdom are required. Thanks, Andy………

Ok, the 90c + 60c progs are hot fill only – the cool washes are generally cold fill only, as are the rinses. Also consider that the cold supply usually runs at a higher pressure than the hot. If your home has low water pressure throughout, it is worth bearing in mind that the cold valve is fitted with a flow restrictor – removal may help. Finally, if you have the line taps with the red and blue plastic levers on, these are little s@ds for breaking inside and not turning the water on fully.

Andyod,
OK what do we have here?..The water pressure is fine, both valves are brand new. When the hot valve supply is fitted on the cold valve, the cold valve works. So lets conclude the fill side of the machines function is fine
Moving on…

Now here’s a clue? and here on in could be complicated. Personally I would go straight to the Pressure Switch and the Manifold system. And checking the Heating Element whilst on my knees.
I will not elaborate further but instead recommend calling in a local independent engineer to cast his expert eye on the matter. Try this link for one such person : Repairs@
