Hi all, need some advice, my parents have the above model wm and its suddenly developed a very violent wobble when starting to spin during various cycles. It is not a case of an unevenly distributed load. The whole machine moves about and would shake the kitchen to bits if left in situ for long. I thought it might be the supporting struts but they look intact, but its like looking at the shock absorber on a car you cant tell by looking.
    Any pointers to look for?
edit, Just turned the machine upside down and it is a shock absorber that is gone, fortunately the one with a bit of free space around it. Any tips or things to watch out for when changing it, I guess the problem is the weight of the drum and supporting it when taking the pin out yes?

These are only dampers so they don’t support the weight of the tub, which hangs from springs at the top. If you turned the machine upside down one or both the dampers may have come apart as one half simply pushes into the other. It is much safer to have the machine the right way up and remove the rear cabinet half. To detach a damper you need to depress the retaining peg in the pointed end of the plastic pin and pull the pin out with pliers. I find if you push a 13mm ring spanner over the end of the pin it pushes in the peg sufficiently for pin removal. Check the front and rear counterweights are secure on the tub.
