ParticipantI have owned a Zanussi FL-1081 for 12 years and has given excelent service up until christmas last year when it started to “stick mid program and I then had to move the dial by hand to finish the cycle.
The timer gets stuck on some but not all programes,
I have replaced the timer and door switch (£110), cleaned and checked the pressure vessel and it worked fine up until now. I stripped and cleaned the pressure vessel again yesterday, checked all parts but it still fails to operate properly.
I am reluctant to buy a new machine as everything on the fl-1081 seems in great order apart from this problem. I have also checked the two diaphragm switches at the top and they suck/blow without leakage.
I am wondering if it is another faulty door switch. or has anyone got any advise? Please help!!
or do I cut my losses and buy a new one after 12yrs? -whats the new equivalent?
I would love to get another year out of it,
Cheers
Sean

Where does it stick?
Does it stick full of water or empty?
When you click it on does it complete the cycle then on its own?

It sticks in various postions, not all the same, if you click it on it will go for a while then need doing again or sometimes complete the cycle.
at the moment it sticks mainly on the start of the delicates/synthetics/coloured programe.
It does fill with water, and heat it too. it has even stuck on spin and the drain settings.

Sticking at the start of the programs could point towards an inlet valve problem however this would not explain the sticking on spin and drain which sounds like a pressure system problem which you say you have cleaned, or a faulty pump.

could it be the two diaphragm pressure switches?

iirc correctly the the drain pump and the valves are on the same circuit so if pump goes down it wont fill so it could still be a valve problem. i would also be looking at the pressure chamber they have a nasty habit of getting blocked or partially blocked causing some strange problems just something to check for.

She does fill with water and drain if you move the dail manually, it tends to stick mostly at the very start of a cycle and at the end of the cycle. I have had the pressure vessell out and cleaned it again, (clean anyway, is this what you call the pressure chamber?)
washing is building up now and missus is naggaging for a new one!!!
