    Hi Fellas

How difficult is it to replace bearings on the Zanussi FL 1082. Bearing feels like front one has gone and user has admitted overloading it every wash.

Appears both bearings go in the rear but does rear half of drum need replacing as shaft will be damaged (possibly. Or is it best to replace rear half whatever??

done bearings before but not for a while or on plastic drums

    cheers

Its not for the faint hearted, cabinet split, whole drum removed and split to change bearings, a big job.

If the drum shaft is damaged then it would be totally uneconomic on a 15 year old machine.

so shaft is on front section and need both to guarentee repair?
do the bearings drift out ok and new ones tap in with suitable round drift.

Done this before with a drum i had to take out from the top. Removing half the cabinet sounds a damn site easier. I take it the white plastic cap on bottom side of cabinet is hiding a screw or bolt?

    Cheers for advice

Appears to be part of the inner drum assembly, around £70 +vat.

If you have the time to spare then I would suggest stripping it down first, at that age you have nothing to lose and it would save you buying parts you can’t then use.

In reply to your edits, yes there are two screws behind the plastic inserts and if you are lucky the bearings will knock out of the drum rear half.
