ParticipantHi got a Zanussi washer thats spat the drive belt off, got a new belt but can’t work out the best way to release the motor to allow a little bit of ‘play’ so I could slip the belt back on???
Anyone help me out here?
Many Thanks!!

There is no adjustment in the motor the correct belt is a stretch one can only be fitted by splitting the cabinet Power off before attempting this though

This is a stretch on (elasticated) belt and can be a pig to fit.
Make sure the power is off, put the belt around the motor pulley then feed it from the left around the main drive pulley turning clockwise (or vise versa if you’re left handed)
It will go on but needs some amount of effort 😉

Was the washer making a rumbling on spin before this happened?

Not really rumbling!
Tried feeding it on but really struggling, would it help if I cable tied it to the big pulley on the back of the drum then cut it off later???

The cabinet has to be split to access the belt, fit using a cable tie on drum pulley. Also check carefully the motor pulley for bits of shredded belt.
(If, when the belt is off and you spin the drum by hand it must not be noisy at all otherwise that’s the reason the belt came off in the first place. i.e Bearings shot!!!)

Thanks, as I say I’m sure it wasn’t noisy but feel its worth a new belt! The machine isn’t that old!!!
If the bearings are shot I assume it will need a new motor????
Do the belts jump off occasionally???

I refer not to the motor but the main Drum Bearings, if its noisy when spinning the drum with no belt attached, then your in trouble 🙁

If thats the case is it worth doing the bearings or scrapping the machine????

It depends on the rest of the appliance condition to a certain extent.
The bearings will cost you around £80-£100 (roughly) to have replaced as a guide 😉
