Zanussi FL812 washing machine

Hi i have a 25 year old zanussi washing machine model number FL 812 [u]which up to now has never giving me any bother,In th last few weeks the setting dial which is mechanical not electronic has been sticking.It has needed to be moved on by hand then it would finish its cycle but now it keeps blowing a fuse it starts its cycle but then shortly after this the fuse blows any idears what the problem is ????.Thanks Bytor

Element failure ? Motor failure ?

Does the motor turn,how long after turning on does it then blow the fuse,does it fill with water.

Hi thanks for the quick response yes the motor turns,It fills and drains water but sometime does not cycle through its program and its was about 5 min into cycle when it blow its fuse i have put new fuse in and up till now not went but turned it off till i get a reply.
