ParticipantHi, The drive belt has gone on our machine. I have stripped the machine down to access the motor and drum but it looks as though when the belt shredded it damaged an electrical cable and dislodged an earth cable. The damaged cable is easily repaired but im not sure where the earth cable connects upto. The earth splits into 2 from the back/bottom of the drum. There are 2 free terminals alongside this and 2 free on the motor.these are the only available terminals in reach of the earth cable but I dont know which terminal is the right one. Hope this is clear to an expert ! Many thanks in advance.

Yes there should be 3 earth wires, one to the motor, one to the heater element and one to the bearing housing.

Hi, yes I have an earth cable to the heater element attached. Im right in thinking the element is below the drum ? I also have 2 earth cables going to the drum and the disconnected 1 which Im now pretty sure is from the motor as there is no earth to it.

Hi, thats one problem sorted. Thanks again. The only problem I have now is refitting the spring like coil on the door seal. Is there a certain way to fit this or does it just hold the rubber seal in place? It came off whilst I was trying to find the original problem. I originally thought something was stuck behind the drum due to the racket the machine was making !

Fit the door seal. Find a socket from the set which will jam tightly between the edge of the seal and the concrete weight. Trap the spring under the socket and prepares for a wresting match to stretch and feed the spring back on.

I also struggle with that job. Don’t tell the others but I have been known to remove the whole drum assembly from to cabinet to give better access for changing the door seal. :hide:

I think removing the whole drum is beyond me! Even had the old man down last night trying to get the rubber seal back on . Looks like I will have to get someone in. 😳 Its got me baffled !
