Hopefully someone can help me here.

My washing machine has stop spinning completely. But if I remove the rear casing turn the wheel by hand back and forth, turn machine back on and go for high speed spin and drain, it goes fine????

It will do a complete wash and then next wash…same again. No spin at all, take cover off, manually move the drum round clockwise and anti clockwise….fire up machine and it goes fine again.

Any suggestions? Trying to get the motor out is a nightmare to say the least on these to check the brushes. But would worn brushes cause this?

Machine is 10 years old and has only ever needed a new front rubber seal on drum.

Power off before any inspection starts – Safety First!! :plug:

Checking the brushes is straightforward on these machines; lean it back against a wall and lay underneath. The motor brushes are on the back of the motor and can be removed easily – don’t drop the screws in the motor!
The reason for the no spin is the brushes are worn to limit and when you manually move the drum, the brushes momentarily make contact and spin the motor around; the motor will run but it’ll sound rough. New brushes are readily available – click the Find a Spare banner below this post and Dave will get the correct items for you. 😉

    HTH,

    A.
