Hi
We have a Zanussi Freezer Model No. DV45 that is about 20 years old.
It is maintaining an internal temperature of minus 18 -20 C.
We only open the freezer a couple of times at lunch time and at meal time in the evening – only for seconds on each occasion.
However it seems that the ‘motor’ is running almost all the time – certainly more than we remember. Is this a sign of ageing or a developing fault or failure ?
We would be grateful for any expert comments/advice.
Thanks in anticipation.
PS Defrosting has made no difference.
20 yrs old and still manages -18c is quite amazing. No doubt the compressor is working its old bones off like grandad on an out of control treadmill. So the old motor, the insulation and the refridgerant levels are bound to suffer not to mention the extra lecky needed. Que sera!
Hi Martin,
thanks for replying to our enquiry.
Are you saying that it really is time we bought a new freezer ?
Do you think it would be safe to continue running our current freezer until we buy a replacement ?
Thanks again
If it’s not switching off then it’s defo on it’s way out and I would of thought a DV45 to be older than twenty years but if want another twenty years of trouble free then avoid buying a “frost free” model to replace it!! 😉
