for a little while now the fridge has had a layer of ice on the back wall, also the food at the back is sometimes partly frozen. i have put a thermometer in the fridge and with it set to number 3 on the thermostat the temperature towards the front of the fridge was 1.9 deg C. the door seals are tight against the frame and are not torn or broken anywhere. it has never had a good long defrost so i will try that next but does anyone have any ideas if a defrost does not cure it?

the thermostat setting does not seem to make any difference to the temperature of the fridge, it always cools down to about 2 degrees, is it worth changing it?
