ParticipantOn my Zanussi FF product no.925771670 the cooling system operates continuously & the fridge cooling plate keeps icing up.
The temperature control knob works although turning it right down to the minimum doesn’t stop the Fridge from freezing up.
In the Freezer section the heater element was completely iced up & the drain hole was encased in ice.
I fully defrosted it all with a hairdryer. Have now switched it back on & the fridge is quickly icing up again.
Please can you help.
Thanks

make sure the doors of the fridge and freezer are closing properly , the correct seal is important not to let cold air escape , also this is a frost free model so the the compressor should be cycling on for a peiod of time and then off , if its running continuosly there is a problem with the thermostat , and also an area to look at is the defrost system , there is avery helpful section on the site about troubleshooting frost free refrigerators , also remember to turn off all power to the machine before any work takes place

I have read through the troubleshooting info & am now sure that it is the defrost system. Having removed the cover at the back of the freezer I know the fins are icing up & the drain hole completely freezes with solid clear ice.
Is this a difficult problem to fix?December 2, 2011 at 6:36 pm #364495slyp98

you need some electrical knowledge and be able to use a multimeter , check resistance of heater coil , also an area to check is the control module this sends the signal to the element there are other components also which cause the fault you describe namely thermistors which can be checked also for resistance ,once again if you are not farmiliar with electrical systems it would be better to call a professional the charges are reasonable and this site can provide you with a local engineer thanks

Thanks for your help. Have decided to buy a new one as I’ve had this one for nearly 10 years now & don’t think its worth paying out for the repairs when I can put the money towards the new one.
