Zanussi Fridge Freezer ZX57/3W not cooling

Hi,

Have a Zanussi ZX57/3W and it has gradually over the last few days has been getting warmer. Now it has packed up, so it’s just at room temperature. This is the fridge and freezer.

Could hear a noticeable ticking sound which didn’t hear often before – running constantly (the defrost timer?) so pulled it out and looked at the back. Gave the white box with the timer in a tap, and the ticking is now down to a level which you wouldn’t be able to hear if it wasn’t in the middle of the kitchen.

The compressor doesn’t seem to be on, not heard it for a few days.

So, any ideas what it could be – the timer, the compressor or something else?

Hi

If the defrost heater is open circuit then the defrost timer wont advance,the defrost timer could also be faulty.

At a guess there is a fault within the defrost system,there is an advance knotch on the timer that can be turned(normally red or grey) turn this to see if it restarts.

Sorry back again

I have found some kind of winder, on the opposite site (can’t see it on the pic) and turned it round clockwise with a screwdriver, at least 1 full turn. Nothing seems to happen.

Also – is it normal for there to be a small amount of oil/grease on the timer?

If you have turned the advance and still no joy then I would recommend an engineer visit as there is a few things that can cause the problem.
