ParticipantMachine was initially not emptying and I found bits of wood wedged in the pump, childrens recreation ground woodchip material, apparently. Did the usual fill and empty to check for leaks / pump operation but found machine is overfilling. Didn’t let it get much more than half way up the door but tried 3 different wash programmes including a half load and it happened each time. Pressure vessel was clear and pressure hose not chafed so I tried blowing into the pressure switch while the machine was filling. The switch made 2 clicks but did not stop filling. A new pressure switch is over £44 trade price so it’s a bit expensive to order one in the hope that it cures the problem. I’m wondering if it’s more likely to be welded contacts in a relay on the module? I notice the water valve is a 2 way type, is it possible to test the filling levels with each half of this as they are presumably operated by different relays?

if i remeber correctly there should definately be 3 clicks, the very 1st click is for the heater safety level, so as to make sure there is water in before switching element in.(stops clothes going on fire inside m/c).
hope this helps.

The Pressure Switch (1320822818) costs around £17 trade 😉

Thanks Martin. I had looked it up on Masterpart where it was given as part No. 1105789000. 😕 Connect describe this one as “1 level safety” so does this mean the 2 clicks are correct?

Ah! I gave you the number of the other PNC variant sorry. If the PNC of your FS1055W is 91479116400 then yes the number you have (1105789000) is the correct pressure switch.
It has 3 level switches in fact. A heater safety level, a single water level and an anti-sudsing level. Therefore I would imagine 3 clicks would be realised?
It sure is an expensive switch that one by the way with 3 connection blocks attached to it! 🙁
Have you got the latest TDS disk by the way?

I’ve now brought the machine to the workshop so I can do more experiments. I took the pressure switch apart and it is only a 2 level type, both of which are working OK. I also tried the different halves of the inlet valve. I found that the “freshen up” programme uses a different solenoid to the prewash, wash and rinse programmes but it still overfills on that as well. It does not actually get high enough to flood but eventually stops filling and the “End” light flashes.
No, I don’t have the TDS disk.May 27, 2008 at 7:13 pm #252132Phidom

I sent the module to QER for repair. It came back and I tried again but the fault remains the same. I notice that terminal 21 on the pressure switch goes to the interlock and I’m now wondering if it could be an interlock problem. Unfortunately I don’t have the right interlock to try, only the old diaphragm type. Any thoughts anyone?

We still don’t know the exact model you refer to here but I’m guessing the PNC is 91479116400….?
The contacts 11, 12 & 14 are the Anti-boiling Level
Contacts 21,22 & 24 are the First Level
Contacts 31 & 32 the Anti-overflow Level.Water level is established by the module calculating the elapsed time the moment the anti-boil level is reached and the time it takes to close the first level contact. 2 triacs on the module operate the water valves and shut off the water flow. Continuity through the water heater is also necessary for this procedure to operate correctly. 😉

Sorry Martin, I forgot to give the product No. it’s 91479110000. The pressure switch only has 6 terminals, 31 and 32 are blank.
Anyway, the machine is now working 😀 It was the heater open circuit. It would never have occurred to me that the heater could affect the fill level. It does not strike me as the safest of design features 😯 Anyway, thanks for the help  :beer:May 29, 2008 at 10:45 am #252135Martin

Good news indeed Phidom, I’m pleased you got to the bottom of the problem in the end…nice one! 😀
Do seriously consider getting yourself a copy of the TDS disc though as it’s the last one ever and they will be as rare as hens teethmarks on badgers bum soon enough. 😉
