Zanussi FS1255w Bearings

Looks like the bearings have just partially sized on my zanussi FS1255W machine.
I have done a bearing in the past on an old Hotpoint, the Zanussi looks a pig, looks like the whole drum has to come out of the case to split it.

What is the likely hood of the replacements failing, the machine in now only about 15 months old. Is it worth the hassle. If not whats the best to buy with regard to reliability and fixability should it go wrong.

It is a pig of a job to do, probably 2-3 hours of constant work if you haven’t done one before.

Generally Zanussi are pretty OK and I’m surprised the gearing have failed at such a young age to be honest although it’s not unheard of 😉

I would recommend a repair on this personally.

Perhaps contact your local Serviceforce agent http://www.serviceforce.co.uk and ask their advice.

If you’re gonnna have a goyourself, you’re looking at about £20 for the parts which I can sort in the shop for you, please pull the plug 1st though :zap:

£20 for parts? If you include the spider, I can’t get them that cheap paying trade prices. The spider quite often does also need to be changed as it gets damaged by bits of broken bearing. 😕

That didn’t include the spider, just the bearing kit and tub seal.

I very much doubt the spider will be damamged on a 15 month old machine unless it has been used extensively or for any length of time with failed bearings.

Most people would just sell the parts,
Dave spent time discussing the problem and saved me money as the problem was a sock stuck between the drum and case.

Thanks very much Dave. Took 5 mins to get out, Luckily it came out between the door seal and drum.
