Going out to this on Monday, says a pan boiled over and now there is a flash and cooker trips out whenever F/L plate is switched on.
Need to have a look at it first but although I have done countless hobs on Hotpoint/Creda cookers this is the first one on a Zanussi I have had to open up.
Anything I need to look out for in particular when removing the hob on this?

Stuck with this one, just had a look at it.
I can see that the hob appears to be hinged at the back but I cannot get the side panels off.
Two screws at the back and I can then pull it away a little to see what appear to be three screws holding the side panels at the front.
These screws are covered by a long, top to bottom metal strip, how do I get that off ❓ ❓ ❓

The trims I need to remove are No: 6 in this diagram, if I knew for certain that they prise off then I would do it but I would look very unprofessional and stupid if they don’t. :eeek:

Am pretty certain they prise off. Seem to remember doing one a few years back

May have to give that a go if I get no other offers. 😀
I did try to gently prise them off but couldn’t shift them with minimal force.
If it breaks then I will tell it was a Liverpool supporter that told me to do it. 😛

Haha. I also remember doing one where that cover slid up from the bottom. May be worth trying that 1st

I also looked at that option but it is tight under the control panel.

I did one of those the other week – yes you need to prise the trims out, flick them out at the back edge (3 clips at top middle and bottom), this then reveals 3 screws to allow removal of the sides.
(I can’t remember if you need to do this stage or not) Now you can slip a flat bladed screwdriver up behind the right angled bits of trim at the top and flick them out.
You are best off ignoring the fact that it is a hinged top as you need to remove the control panel before the hinges work, instead undo them and the 4 other screws that hold the top on and you should find that you can lift the top up and back before turning it over (cables are routed up to the front left of the unit).

P.S. Be prepared to swear a bit when trying to put the trims back

Worked a treat, if you didn’t know and tried to prise the strips off from the front it would be impossible.
Next problem, it is not one of the rings that the boiled over pan damaged but the main oven thermostat. They could see a flash from under the ring and assumed it was that.
There are two stats listed, 3111622027 up to serial No: 305, and 3115824009 from serial No:306.
The serial number I have is 24100368.
So which oven stat do I need?

Just back home from Old Trafford, feeling well chuffed so I though I would give this a bump. 🙂
Which three numbers of the serial number does 305/306 relate to?

Hi Jim
From the info on date codes I have Zanussi serial numbers go first digit year of manufacturer next two week of manufacture rest are general factory numbers. So yours is 2002 week 41 built.
On that basis it’s up to 306 3111622027.
I can email you the photo’s from Connect if you pm an email addy. That way you could compare them with the original.

Thanks Don, I left the hob disconnected and phoned him last night and asked him to have a quick look at the stat connection numbers. From that I think you are correct.
