ParticipantHI All,
My not very old ZanussiZWG5165 (91490456000) has given up. Stopped in mid wash and now wont start. The pump and filter were pretty clean, the drain is clear.
When you choose a program first expected time shows as normal, then couple of seconds later display shows 0, then expected time again, after this if you push start it says Err (as though incompatible wash options seleceted) then clears back to time expected. Doesnt seem to matter what program or options are selected. I get no error codes.
Do I need a new controller or did I miss something obvious?
Many thanksNovember 27, 2012 at 7:13 pm #385464Seamy

When appliance starts it normally locks door first then runs pump to reset the level switch, if the pump does’nt run or is open circuit it would likely not go any further.
If its going off early on in programme those are the first things to check, also if there was an earth fault on heater.
Not sure if you can test the components with a multimeter, but thats what would be needed to be done before condemning the P.C.BNovember 29, 2012 at 9:50 am #385465pupton

I will get the meter out. Thanks for the advice.
Not optimistic though. According to manual door open should give error E40 and failure to drain should give E20. Program never starts I don’t think I’m getting as far as even locking the door. there’s no error if I try to start with door open the manual suggests it should pick that up with E40.November 29, 2012 at 12:20 pm #385466Martin

As Seamy says, the first thing that should happen is that the door locks. Now you tell us the door doesn’t even lock so I suggest the door interlock might be a great place to start? 8)

Found out how to get into the fault finding menu finally. Got an error code…E66 Apparently means Heater relay always open.
Managed to free off the relay by giving it a thump.
Not sure how long that will last but it’s working for now. 🙂 -
