ParticipantHi
We’ve got an Zanussi IZ141 which has just started playing up at the start of the washing cycle.
In the cottons wash cycle, which takes 2hrs 13, it will start taking on water then stop within about 5 minutes and nothing else happens and the digital clock does not advance.
I’ve run through the diagnostics and get error code E52, which I’ve established is:
E52: No signal from the motor tachymetric generator
or
E52: No signal from the tachymetric generatorDuring the diagnostics it will fill with water without a problem.
I’d be grateful to receive some advice as to where I can start to cure this problem please.
Many thanks

Hi.
You may want to check if the carbon brushes on the motor have worn out.

Many thanks Spindoctor, I replaced the carbon brushes as they were very low – that seems to have done the trick in so far as it will now start washing.
Having just put it back together and given it a test run, it’s created another problem. It starts the washing cycle and will not progress past 1min 53 on a cotton wash (starts at 2min 13) or 43mins on a quick wash. It’s filling with water and washing, but not progressing past these points.
I’ve not done the diagnostics to get an error code yet, but in the meantime, has anyone got an idea where the problem could be?
Thanks again!

Thanks helo – do you mean the contact to the element?
When I was looking about having a preliminary look, I couldn’t help myself and pulled the element out just to have a look! Could I have knackered the element by doing that, or perhaps I didn’t connect it back properly.
Many thanks

Earth leakage on the heating element can cause any number of spurious fault codes to be generated, as can leakage through the motor. An insulation tester and the correct knowledge to use it will be required to nail the problem.
