The load on this machine stays damp after the drying cycle has finished. The fault has appeared suddenly, not incrementally.
The washing cycle appears to be ok
The heater seems to be working
No error codes present
Machine draining OK
Fill valve and drain pump replaced in the last 18 months
Condenser is clear and unblocked
I thought I’d cracked it when I noticed that the belt driving the heater blower fan was slipping badly. I haven’t been able to fit a new belt yet, but have managed to bulk up the pulley on the blower impeller shaft and it seems to be turning at a fair old lick.
Anyone have any suggestions? Any hints or advice on what and where to check will be greatfully received.
Cheers

Double element for heating circuit – check resistance of both.
Power off first, of course.

Think the heater is ok. Do you think maybe it’s not getting hot enough?

It’ll extend the drying cycle……….

Don’t think that’s the problem as I can go through a full wash and dry cycle, and then start an additional drying cycle: the load’s still damp at the end.
I’m ok with mechanical stuff, but not so confident with electrickery. I’ll need to get a new multimeter before I can test the heater. Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know what the resistance should be?

One trip to Maplin’s later. . . ..
Resistance on one heater element is 56 ohms, 55.5 on the other.
There are 3 TOCs on the heater housing:
The one at the rear has a closed circuit and some kind of reset button built into it. The button has free movement if that makes sense, i.e.no resistance or clicking when pressed.
The next TOC along also has a closed circuit.
The 3rd TOC is positioned at the front of the housing where it curves down towards the drum. This is showing an OPEN circuit. Is this significant?

Front “stat” is a thermistor NTC device. You will need to set your meter up into the kOhm range to get a reading from it this should fall as the device warms up. There is a second one in the condenser housing to tub hose down at the bottom to check as well. That one suffers from wiring issues due to vibration.

Sorry to hijack this board, but I’m having a similar problem with the same model.
There doesn’t seem to be any heat, and the running time is way shorter than the time set. No error seems to be generated. I think the NTC in the condenser hose has gone, as it shows zero resistance at room temperature, but so do the 2 replacement NTCs I’ve recieved (though they do generate an E72 error, so I’m not convinced they are the right part and will order a 3rd eleswhere). Just in case I’m doing something really stupid, I take it I should look for resistance between the 2 blade connectors on the NTC?
I did notice the comment from Penguin regarding possible problems with the wiring to that part. How do I check that wiring? Is there a reading I can take at the NTC connection end and if not, where are the other ends of the 2 wires so I can at least check the wires themselves?
Thanks.
