good evening, the door on my washing machine has failed, the actuating handle ( for want of a better description) that you use to open the door ‘flaps about’ ie there is no spring tension and the catch behind the door cannot be released.
Any one got any ideas how to open it without resorting to brute force which would probably damage the casing / door
Assuming that the machine has fully drained – power off, lid off. You will see the interlock directly in line with the catch. The point of the catch just shows through, so you can reach down and lever it across. It can be quite stiff – a small screwdriver may help.
We will need the actual model number to identify a replacement handle for you.
Lentgh of strong string about 2′ long,Grasp tightly each end and pull across from the right to the left between the door and gasket and this should open the door for you.
