    Hello all,

Last night I turned my main oven on and after a few minutes the cooker power tripped (the cooker is on a seperate RCB). I reset it and everything came back to life except the main oven wasn’t getting hot. I turned it off and on again and did all the usual things like willing it to work and twiddling the controls but nothing worked.
The hob, top combi oven, oven lights, fan and thermostat light all work but none of the three elements in the main oven are getting hot.

In a previous house we had an integrated oven that did the same thing but that only had one heating element for the fan and I managed to replace that cheaply but it seems odd that all three elements aren’t working so wonder if something else is the culprit.
The two elements I can see look ok – no bulging or cracking.

I’m not great with electrics but do have a multimeter (not that I have any idea how to use it) and am quite happy to have a go myself.

It’s a freestanding Zanussi ZCI69060XE and is almost 5 years old.

    Many thanks for any help

If the main oven doesn’t fire up at all, there is no light or anything, then the two likely possibilities are the clock on auto, or the main oven switch has blown.

With the power going out the clock is worth looking at before you open it up and look at the switch.

This model doesn’t have a clock so it can’t be that. When you say the main oven switch do you mean the thermostat switch? When I turn the temperature dial, the preheat light comes on and there is an audible click – could it be the control knob switch?

Yes, it could well be the switch that’s the problem in that case and the most likely but you’d need to take a look to confirm that.

Well if all 3 elements in the bottom oven do not work it can also be the oven`s over heat stat (a small squareish white stat – NOT the main stat that regulates the temperature via the selector knob nor nectssarily the switch bank) has decided to fail should be part number 140018026140 listed at 24 quid (scandalous robbery!!) with a violet paint marking = 225degrees. Sometimes this stat fails due to boredom(!) other times it fails due to overheating (main stat duff too?) or wires burning off due to rubbish tags i.e. bad connection over time- if you pull both wires off and measure the stat with your meter – if you get continitity = it is ok, if not, its duff. This o/stat should be behind the rear cover from failing memory.
With ordering on the Zanussi uk spares site to make sure you get the right part is all based on the long product number beginning with 9 as read off your ratings label this will then X ref with your model number. There are two versions of your model based on the this 9 number so you double check, I haven`t, on Zanussi site just in case the stat I`m on about is different (probably not but worth checking) or obviously for any othe part that you prove I`m wrong.
Heap big tip: if you have to remove and transfer wires off the switch bank to a new one take a photo of the wires before you do anything.
