This 14 year old machine has an oven attached to it so there won’t be many of these brutes about. model FBI 534-31B
Anyway the magnetron was faulty so no probs but there is a 400mA ceramic fuse which has opened circuited, from the diode to earth . can anyone tell me if this part is necessary and maybe what it is for?

have not seen this model but from your description i assume it is in series with the diode to earth
this is a fuse meant to blow if the diode goes short circuit. Will go without it but i would fit a new diode

as with all parts fitted by manufacturer you have to be careful even though the oven will opererate safely there is always the big IF if something goes wrong and the fuse is not there could you get sued for not putting this part in even though thousands of oven dont have them

if it was me think i would risk this one and you could always say it was not in when you fixed it and who could deny that
    hope this helps

    Dave
