Hello

I have just had to buy a reconditioned washing machine, as the last one would have cost me £100 to fix. I have bought the above model and it seems to be working okay, but when the wash cycle has finished, the clothes are hot, as though the final rinse has been done in hot water. This has happened twice now. Should the final rinse be in cold water? If so, what could the problem be? Thanks, Carol.

Thats probably an easy one, check that the hot and cold hoses are on correctly. Sounds like they are reversed. And, no your washing should not be hot at the end of a wash having had several rinses in cold water.

Hi, thanks for your reply. My husband has just had a look and says that the pipes look as though they are on the right way, as they are colour co-ordinated (blue and red). Is there anything else that might cause the problem. Would it be worth him trying to change them round anyway, just in case? Thank you, CArol.

With the machine pulled out, select last rinse. If the pipe gradually warms up, it’s the wrong wat round………………

yes…the pipes may match colours on the mchine but may not be on the correct taps (indeed the tap heads may be the wrong colour)
put the machine on to rinse and check that only cold water is entering….if its hot then you need to reverse the hoses. If you can feel the hoses while the machine is filling then you will (a) feel which hose is letting in the water and (b) feel the temperature of the hose

The pipes are the wrong way around!

It’s confusing on a Zanussi because they use red plastic for the cold fill tap thingy, then white plastic for the hot one.

Also the Italian words for hot and cold (printed on there too) are misleading.

I’d bet money the pipes are the wrong way around! Anyone fancy a wager? 😉

It may help to know that as you look at the machine from behind, the cold hose fits of the RIGHT HAND hose coupling. We’re all agreed with the diagnosis…over to you!

No more bets please!! You were all right!! Pipes on the wrong way round – but the man who fitted the machine did it!! Works like a dream now! Thanks for all your help and advice, really useful. Best wishes, Carol. 😀
