Hey guys, you were so great at helping me with my tumble dryer at christmas, I was hoping you could do similar with my dishwashing issues. I hate washing up! 😆

It is a Zanussi DE6544, and has been insitu for about 5 weeks. It is about 18 months old, and has worked perfectly in that time. However, last night it switched on ok, and did all the normal noises until it came to fill with water. At that point, it stopped working, and the drying phase and on/off indicator light started flashing. I think, according to the manual, this means there is a problem with the thing draining. I tried it again a few times, including switching it off at the mains for a minute or so, but it wouldn’t progress any further so I gave up and went to bed. Also, this morning, a stream of water has leaked out from underneath the machine.

Help! Anyone have any ideas what to do or try next? Many, many greatful thanks in advance.

Re: Zanussi not draining and leaking too!

The wash pump and drain pump are all one unit on this machine and it sounds like the seals may have failed which can cause the pump unit to seize.

I have known the impellor in the pump to shed its blades which could also cause this problem although that wouldn’t generate a leak.

Probably best to get an engineer to have a look to confirm as the pump unit is around £80.

I would stake money on the wash/empty pump faulty
