    Hi

My oven stays at maximum temperature regardless of the setting of the temperature control so I decided to replace the thermostat. According to all the parts suppliers I tried, the original thermostat is obsolete.

    Oven Brand: Zanussi
    Oven Model: ZHQ575W
    Oven Product Number: 944171206
    Obsolete Thermostat: 47THC23/F5 (or 3111622019)

I found Ransom Spares before I found this site and they said that Zanussi recommend this one instead so I bought it:

    New Thermostat: http://www.ransomspares.co.uk/parts/cookers-hobs/zanussi/thermostat/85474.htm?m=23645

But it has fewer connectors than the original. I have checked again with the suppliers and it is right. I think I may need to connect multiple wires to one or more of the connectors but the unit comes without diagrams, and neither Ransom Spares nor Zanussi can help.

Can anyone help me work out which wires go where?

    Thanks

I could be wrong but, I don’t see how you could fit that thermostat as the original has a switch assay built into the front of it. That stat doesn’t have the ability to do that unless there’s some modification to allow it to fit.

We do list it as obsolete with no alternative available that I am aware of.

    Hi kwatt

    Thanks for looking.

The appliance has two knobs to control the main oven. The first knob is the temperature control which has just the thermostat behind it. The second knob is the function selector which has the switch assembly behind it. The two are connected by several wires.

    Hi

There are 2 versions of that oven ,the stat that you have been sent is for the other version and is not interchangeable with your oven.

    Hi Washman

Thanks for your response. The spare parts search on this site lists my part number (3111622019) as obsolete and then explains that this means

…there is no availability of that part and there is no alternative listed.

So unless someone has any other idea, it looks like this is the end of the road for my oven.

    🙁

    @bazza500
and @Applianceman2010: Thank you for the advice but I think fitting that part, with the necessary rewiring is too much for my skills. But do read on for something interesting which might make the repair much easier.

On the connect-plus site, for the main oven they show a thermostat which appears to have seven connectors, just like mine has. For the top oven they show one with just two connectors plus earth. The interesting thing is that on each of these two web pages there is a note to say that the product is wrong and that if you want the main oven thermostat you should buy the one they sell for the top oven, and vice versa.

It looks like they are already selling the right thermostat for each oven. The note which is supposed to correct an error should be removed. This misinformation seems to me to be the reason that all the parts suppliers are selling a main oven thermostat with too few connectors. Connect-plus got the misinformation and added errata to their database and web pages, which makes it easy for us to suspect misinformation. Other suppliers on the other hand have updated their systems so that they are now showing the wrong thermostat for each of the ovens. Anyone buying just one will get the wrong part and have a hard time wiring it in.

So the thermostat that I believe I need for the main oven is 47THC9/F8 aka ET52001-F8 aka DST506008433001. I have ordered one and will let you know how I get on.

    Re: Zanussi oven thermostat wiring

I’m happy to report that everything went well and the oven is working fine now. In summary if you want a main oven thermostat for a ZHQ575 check very carefully what your parts supplier is going to sell you. I successfully replaced mine with a 47THC9/F8 aka ET52001-F8 aka DST506008433001.

Wiring up the new thermostat was easy as it looks a lot like the old one and has the same number of connectors and similar layout and labelling. I wired the new connectors 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 as they were previously. I left 5 unused, as before. The new thermostat has connectors A, B and C where the old one had F, G and H. I wired A and B as though they were the old F and G respectively, and left C unused, just as H was. I got the A=F and B=G part from the post below:

    http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=160349

The whole experience was long and frustrating and I nearly gave up thinking it might be wiser to buy a new oven. I’m glad I didn’t as it would have been a waste of a perfectly good £500 oven which in the end I fixed for £40. 😀

Thanks for everyone’s input along that way. I hope this tale helps someone else.

    Re: Zanussi oven thermostat wiring

Glad I found this old thread as it kept my oven going.

For future information. The AEG D4150 main ovens also use a 47THC23/F5 which can be replaced by a 47THC9/F8.

Wiring is like-for-like (ie Terminal 1 moves to Terminal 1, T2 to T2, etc) except Terminal F goes to Terminal A, and Terminal G goes to Terminal B

    Hi All,

how do I tell the difference between the 2 oven types I have the ZHQ575W however the product no is 944171206 no indication of the difference between a 600 or 601. I suspect the thermostat but haven’t got round to striping it down yet. Will it become obvious once I open it up.

an idea of the fault might help

if there is no indication after the pnc no its likely you have a 00 version
