Hi,I’ve got a Zanussi Jetsystem 1200 (FJ 1254W) that washes and spins fine. However it seems like it may be overheating or something because if you try to put another wash on straight away then when you press the start button it looks like it’s going to starts, but then just stops without doing anything. Switch it off and leave it for a few hours then it works fine. Any ideas? Thanks

It might just be the door interlock at fault. On this 2nd wash attempt does the door lock?

Hi, thanks for the reply. It did a wash fine ealier today and I switched it off for a few hours. Just gone to put another wash on and door locked and it starts to make the usual noises for about 5 seconds, as if going to start the wash as normal, but then the start/pause LED flashes and nothing happens. If you cancel the programme then you hear the door unlock OK. Thanks

Under normal circumstances whenever a fault is detected by the electronics an error code would be displayed in the window. The first thing that happens at the start of any programme cycle is that the drain pump runs for 15 seconds or so. Just running for 5 seconds therefore would suggest that the pump has perhaps overheated on the previous wash cycle and needs replacing. However if that were the case then usually it should throw up an ‘E20’ error code in the window. For it just to stop is odd and I don’t have an answer at this stage. But it is an old machine and pumps frequently wear out after 3 – 5 yrs hard work so my guess is the drain pump needs replacing.
