ParticipantHi
I got a Zanussi dual fuel cooker (ZCM641, 10 years old). Recently the selector switch of the oven failed (burnt out).
Yesterday I had a repair guy coming around to change the selector switch. However, when I used it today, turning to grill and grill was not on; turning to fan oven, it seems the grill and oven came on together. Also, it seems the switch is not properly aligned with the dial. The original dial has 5 positions (0, defrost, fan oven, grill, and light), while with the new switch I can turn to 6 positions.I suppose changing the switch is a straight forward job -just plugging those wires in. Any suggestions what could have gone wrong before I call the engineer back on Monday?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Sounds like he has fitted the wrong switch.
Do you have the part number of the part he fitted and the PNC number of your cooker?

PROD NO. 947740760 – 01
SER NO. 550 16950How do I find out online the correct part for this model? Thanks again!

3581980095 is the part number for your PNC.
Using only the model number there are 5 different variations of this appliance and they use different selector switches.

Hi bazza500
Is this number 3581980095 a universal part number (across different websites)? I spoke to the engineer and they seemed to be using a different website (not ukwhitegoods) for their parts and not recognizing the part number. I asked them to have a look at the 3581980095 on ukwhitegoods and they said it looks the same as the one they ordered. Now if the looks are the same, how can my old switch has 5 positions (functions) while the new one has 6? Must be different parts?
Many thanks for your help!

The original part number fitted was 3581960543.
That changes to 3581980095. This one:

Like many parts, it’s been changed and as usual you cannot go by images alone as there will be some change, could be minor, could be major, we usually don’t have a clue. You have to trust the model and service numbers then part numbers, not images.
Based on the PNC though, that is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct, no doubt about it.
