Remove side panels. release one end of front to rear top bars, pull drum back. Wrap belt round drum and secure top bars. Undo motor locks and fan covers, lift motor, feed belt round and refit. Refit tension spring to motor case and your mothers’ brother may indeed be called Robert.
Can you tell me if it is possible to tighten an existing belt on this model (Zanussi 7102w) I am getting symptoms that the belt is slipping. I have stripped it and just want to know if I need a new belt or if I can actually tighten the existing belt.

Then you would have noticed the belt is tensioned by a large spring against the motor tensioning the jockey pulley. If the rubber belt is shredded or perished it will need replacing. And often the black plastic jockey pulley wears and that too needs replacing. Considering the age of the appliance I would suggest you buy both!
