Zanussi TCE7124 (916092560/02) Condenser Dryer

This is a machine approx 10years old, with low to medium usage over that time.

Just recently it has begun to take ages to dry, sometimes not drying at all. Without load it seems to work fine. Heat is generated and it runs continually. With a wet load, it heats up, spins for a fews seconds, then stops for a many minutes, then will repeat this cycle.

I have cleaned it of lint etc.

Any ideas pls?

Now having taken the lid off and tried running it – same problems with a load except: when lifting the dryer with it running, I let it down heavily nad it jogged the machine into action. Then it stopped again, so I jogged it again and it seems to be runnig continuously at the monent. Ity would seem there was a problem with the drum not being able to rotate freely so it was cutting out. I will take the back off and explore… still any expert advice would be gratefully received.

if drum goes with a push but wont start otherwise most likely fault is motor capacitor
