ModeratorCustomer had an item of clothing jammed between drum front & seal at the top, after he pulled it out machine refused to work.
Door micro switch is U/S but also noticed machine is full of fluff and drum front seal is slightly adrift and looks to have stretched a bit.
Cabinet is standard Zanussi split in half job, is it possible to change this drum front seal from the front after splitting cabinet without disturbing the motor, belt and other bits & bobs at the back?

easiest way is to split cabinet and remove drum and fit new seal and microswitch. It’s not a difficult job. Just check where the tensioning spring attaches to motor before you remove the belt.

Are you sure I would need to remove the drum on this machine Alan ? The motor is mounted on a bracket running along the top of the machine at the back, it looks as though the cab will split and move forwards sufficiently to slot the drum seal in, or am I being over optimistic. 🙂
Micro switch is a doddle, it just clips into the plastic door surround from the top.

I find its best to remove the drum in cases like this. You will need to lay the machine on its front to remove the base plate also (feet are held on by expanding plugs, push plug in to remove feet). 😉

Went to fix this machine today, had to wait a couple of weeks for microswitch.
This is the first time I have ever done a repair on this model.
My cursory inspection on first visit led me to believe I could do this repair without disturbing the drum, although I was advised differently 😉 I decided to see ‘how it went’Top off, base off, split cabinet, cut the cable tie holding harness just below timer and it opened up a treat. Less than 20 minutes from start to finish. Just goes to show there is more than one way to skin a cat. 8)
Just look at the pile of fluff I removed. 😯

DID YOU FIT A MODIFIED SEAL AND BEARING PADS?

Seal was a 50220747005, mainly foam with a felt lip, as shown on TDS. It just slots into the front of the plastic drum. The motor is at the top on this machine so the belt supports some of the weight of the drum. No bearing pads shown on TDS info?

Soz Jim thought you meant felt seal that the drum runs on this wears which causes a gap to appear and clothes get caught. I cant find the service bulliten but I carry the part. Part no. 50272165007
