ParticipantHi,
My old Zanussi TDE 4234W works fine apart from the start button.Sometimes it works perfectly, other times not at all. We randomly open/close the door, turn the machine off/on and keep trying until it starts. You never have to push hard, just gently touch it so it seems like the on button itself is ok?
It’s like something is disabling it and I’m wondering if there is a door closed sensor or something similar that might be dodgy and telling the on button not to work?
Any ideas welcome as I don’t want to replace the whole machine for what is probably something simple.
Thanks

Actually I played around a bit and without touching the door, turned the machine off and on, then gently pressed start a few times, then repeated until it started. So I think that may rule out any switch in the door latch 🙁 Bit stumped frankly!

Moderatorwhen you press start you are actually pressing a very small switch on the board. they can get dirty and only work sometimes, they can have bad solder joints that cause the same

Moderatorwell i take the board out, look at the solder joint with a magnifying glass and use a multi meter to see if they work

Participantive repaired my candy ages ago with exactly the same symptoms; my other symptom was that the machine would sometimes end the cycle short leaving the clothes damp. From memory it was the heater relay on the PCB which I replaced it and its still going strong.
