Zanussi W/Dryer model WDT1072

When on drying the water entering the top of the condenser has suddenly started leaking out of the vent hole by-passing the rubber flap valve but I can’t figure out why. I can stop it leaking by closing the cold fill tap a bit to reduce the flow into the condenser, so wondered if there should be a restricter in the condenser inlet valve which has become dislodged. Any help would be appreciated.

hi, there should be a restricter in the valve, the water show only trickle in, never had one leak from there, is there a blockage in the condensor further down?

Hi cab,
The rate of flow of water into the condenser is pretty fast so it sounds as though the restricter is the problem. The condenser/tub inlet isn’t blocked; I checked that. The valve assembly doesn’t look easy to dismantle [unless it’s misleading] so I think I may make a restricter to fit in that narrow supply hose to the condenser, rather like that one Hotpoint used to fit in the pressure hose of the microprofile washing machines years ago.

JUST HAD A LOOK AT THE PICTURES DOESNT SHOW A SEPERATE RESTRICTER. VALVE PART NO. 1240825008. HAS SOMEONE CHANGED IT BEFORE? FITTING NEW ONE AINT TOO BAD, NED TO TAKEBACK OFF TO ALLOW ROOM TO MOVE DRYER PIPEWORK ETC.

All the ones I’ve seen are fitted with a restrictor aka Hotpoint w/d. Original restrictor sometimes gets dislodged and is forced up the ‘U’ shaped pipe supplying the condenser. Worth removing the hose and pushing a screwdriver through to see. 😉
Also try the little box that is clipped on the back of the soap drawer – the condenser valve hose supplies this – pop the top off and check for blockages. The lid clips are really fragile, so be careful!!!
If you fit a restrictor – fit it in the valve nozzle NOT the hoses – the mains water pressure will pump up the pipe like a bicycle innertube and pop!! it will split or be forced off its nozzles. (as in Hoover softwave washer/driers 😉 remember those? Water everywhere!!!). I’ve used Hotpoint green restrictors before – they work perfectly!
You don’t need to take the back of the machine off – just remove the mains cable from its clamp, unclip, lift up and remove the plastic valve support. Then undo the screw holding the metal valve clamp on the back of the soap dispenser unit, remove it and swivel the other metal plate holding the suppressor out of the way. Unclip the clear plastic condenser supply pipe from the little box on the back of the dispenser and this gives enough clearance to move the valve backwards and out of the machine. Easy!! 😀
