ParticipantThis machine acts as though it’s trying to spin.
It will sit on distribute, but won’t ramp up the speed, then pause for a short while, then have another go … and another … and another … etcI’ve cleaned up the brushes – it had low insulation on the motor, but is now fine – brushes are less than half worn, so I haven’t replaced them.
Tacho magnet appears to be fully intact.
Checked out the resistance readings within the motor – all are within the specified range for the Sole motor, except the armature, which is about 1 ohm above.
Taken module off and inspected it – no apparent damage. Squeezed up connections.Haven’t removed sump to check for blockages, though, as it’s draining out nicely and there’s nothing in the filter.
On reading previous posts, the speed of the motor is down to the motor and module, not the timer.
Since the motor meters fine and it’s sitting on distribute, but not ramping up the spin speed, I’m suspecting the module. Is there anything I’ve missed before I go for a module replacement? (Like a duff out of balance detector – but if so, where is this located?)
Thanks,

The most common reasons for these symptoms are as follows (most likely first): –
Tacho problems (usually come loose).
Bunged up air chamber.
Burnt relay terminal on motor board( a clean up and dab of solder cures all).
Earth leak on heater.March 17, 2011 at 7:18 pm #347324Pigpen4

Thanks, chaps,
It was the same with or without a load in.
I’ve checked the tacho,
I’ve checked the relay terminals,
and I’ve checked the heater.
But I haven’t checked the air chamber, so my next step is to check that, then remove the module to check with my magnifying glass, then send it to The Barn, if it’s still a non-goer.Cheers,

Thanks, Martin.
The air chamber was well and truly gunked up.
Gave it a good clean out and it’s all working nicely now.
Cheers,
