ParticipantHi
I would be grateful for any help please.
Washer Drier (integrated);
Zanussi ZJD12191 – Serial no. 914601218-00I am trying to replace the worn carbon brushes on the above model. After a struggle to get access, I cannot find the a replacement type on any spares website, even when typing in the serial number.
The housing is white, and the location pins beneath are off centre, which none of the zanussi items online seem to be? The brushes are spring type, with the terminal connector at other end (not a sealed plastic unit as per the zanussi’s I can see?), please see attached photos.
Please can anyone advise me as to replacement brushes, either full housing, or brush/spring/connector combo? Even generic part?
Thanks for any help.

https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/bs12103-washing-machine-motor-carbon-brushesthis is a bosch brush. look at description it gives you measurements of the carbons. compare to the ones you have

Please see the motor casing photos below; there wasn’t so much a label, just a stamp.

https://imgur.com/1L3HJVOThe Bosch brushes are spot in terms of size, although I don’t know the original length of course. I was wondering if there was any problem in terms of compatibility with material/angle of chamfer?
Also, is the non genuine part sufficient? The machine was in our house when bought, but assume it’s pushing 15 years old now.
Thanks

Moderatormachine built around 2006
this motor is built by BSH ( bosch group) so there is a good chance those brushes will fit
I use the non gen brushes all the time but never the cheapest. occasionally i find the angle is slightly out and i have to use emery to take off the high spot. This does not happen with every motor but i always run the lowest part of the angle just slightly every time i fit them
other enginners have given up onnon gen part fitting only gen brushes so decision is entirely up to yourself. What i would recommend is you try the machine on spin after yout fit them. listen for sparking on the motor. if this sparking is escessive remove brush and look where its wearing and help it a bit and try again.even when your happy, dont fill with with very heavy load and avoid all towels. lower the spin speed to 800 for at least the first 10 washes. then raise it to 1000 for the neaxt 10 and so on.

That’s a great help. Thank you – I will look to get the mid range brushes and go for it as you have suggested.
Could you just confirm what you meant by ‘run the lowest part of the angle’? I assumed you mean file brush enough that the lowest corner of the chamfer to be contacting the motor?
Noted reference running the machine empty to check spark, and also building up in terms of loads. Very helpful and much appreciated, thanks for taking your time to reply.

Moderatorsee diagram
just take a bit off not a lot. i just hold the brush square on the emery. tilt it back a bit and draw it backwards. All your trying to do is move the contact area to the centre of the brushDave
