As requested Sah!
Update, a picture paints a 1000 words…

Evidence! Zoltan Zanussi pictured in wash-mode extravaganza!

Wahey! He seems fine now, phew! Wrong time of year to be shelling out for a new Washing M/c. Especially when Mrs The Bass has got her eye on a Miele or ISE10 (though she really wants a washer/dryer… I know… I know… I’ve told her…!) next time… . The Miele dishwasher next to it is lovely though I must admit after a constant battle with that old Smeg we had, remember this thread?… -> http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … highlight=
Cheers again for all your help Spin Doctor and the UKWhitegoods forums.

Boiiiiiiing! 🙂
It’s back again. Different fault this time, its been working great since the Christmas element breakdown. The machine has suddenly got very noisy on spin cycles, the drum is harder to turn according the the ‘domestic staff’ (Mrs The Bass) and on investigation the drum does indeed feel stiffer to turn by hand and it also slightly ‘lumpy’ in feel to as it’s turned.
Drum Bearings?
Anyone here attempted it on this machine? Worth the bother?

If the noise has come on ‘suddenly’ then you may have an item of clothing stuck between the drums. Most of the time you will see rusty stains down the back of the outer drum if the bearings have failed.

Oooo yes, I see what you mean. The noise seems to have come on since we were away on hols, only our 21 y/o son was at home…. he put a few loads on.
Ermmmmmm…..
I’ll have a delve about between the drums before going any further.
Thanks Mr Iadom.

If you are very lucky you may be able to fish the obstruction out through the heater aperture or by removing the large drain hose.

Hello again.
If you have got something caught between the tub & drum, you might be able to retrieve the item using a torch & long nose pliers. If not, it is a complete tub removal, strip down & rebuild.
Also, it may be that you need a new door seal as the gap between the drum & tub opens up as the seal wears/distorts & that is how the problem can start.
Good luck. Keep us posted.
