My washer dryer just died with a bang! The cycle finished but small particles of metal and what looks like concrete came out the bottom. I tilted the machine and the component is a brittle composite – red/brown in colour. Does anyone even know what the component is?

    Thanks for reading.

Sounds like front counter weight has broken not a DIY job but not that expensive to have repaired

Thanks for the reply. The component did not seem to be that heavy – like your normal concrete block in a machine.

When you said it went bang did it blow a fuse, does it still work, and what was the metal possible dryer duct broken up it goes around the front counter weight
Power off when checking though 🙂

These counterweights are made up of small metal balls which has been bonded together withsome type of resin. Had a rear one break up once. Lools like coffee granules when they break up.
