ParticipantHi
Does anyone have an idea what this wierd problem could be?
When the washer is switched on it fills for a short time then goes into a spin cycle and water floods out of the powder drawer.
Its a Zanussi FJ1033/A and the code number is 91478700
Thanks
Pete

Your problem is associated with the motor speed control. Most likely it requires attention to the Motor tacho. Not a serious problem and easily sorted by a local independent engineer. Click here Repairs@

Thanks Martin.
Is this a spare part to replace or an adjustment? Is this possible to do by a good diy’er?

Yes most likely a spare part required to sort. Although there are no less than 3 variants for this model, the most common one is part no: 50204873009 available by emailing the details to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk
I repeat though, it is best someone sort it for you however capable your ability to DIY may be. 💡

Look for star washer on floor locate loose tacho slot it back in rear of motor, smack the star shaped retainer back in behind tacho unit and adhere it in place.

Hi
I got the new tacho unit and put it in but as (bad) luck would have it, it wasn’t that problem and it still floods due to going into a spin cycle as soon as it fills with water.
Is there a reset that needs to be activated or any other ideas on the problem?
Thanks

If you’re absolutely sure that it’s fitted correctly then I would take the motor to a local appliance repairer and ask them to check it for you, on occasion a short on the windings or armature can also cause this but it’s quite rare.
There is no reset I’m afraid 🙁

I’ve had that problem 100’s of times, and it’s always the tacho.
I’m sure all other appliance engineers would agree.

Yep – usually the tacho is at fault but it could also be the triac on the module.
If it is the module then check the model details carefully cos there are 3 versions of the fj1033 – /A, /B & /C, unless you can find someone who can repair the old one.Maybe you should consider calling an engineer who can diagnose exactly whats wrong with it before you buy any more parts for it. I had forgotten about that; nice one “world”. Its the round magnet (usually cream in colour) and screws onto rear of motor an dthen tacho coil goes over it and secured by star washer.
BTW welcome aboard world 😉Greg
