    Hi

Have a problem with my Zanussi FLE 1115W washing machine. Itโ€™s about five to sic years old and gets a lot of use as we have three young children!

The problem is is that it seems incapable of moving from one part of the washing cycle to another. After the main wash instead of moving to the rinse cycle it stops for a few minutes. Then it just starts/stops a short spin up. It then waits another few minutes and repeats the short spin up. After about three of these the machine just pauses and goes no further. The only way round it is to manually force it onto the next part of the cycle. It will again do that part and repeat the above.

I had an engineer in who says the main circuit board is faulty. In his opinion he thinks its not worth replacing as it would cost me about 140 pounds and he reckons the board would probably go again quite quickly as it may be hiding another underlying unidentified problem

I was wondering what people on the forum think about the problem, it diagnosis and suggestion made?

    Thanks in advance.

Are there no error codes or flashing lights when the machine comes to a stop ?

If not then I would also suspect the control PCB as it should detect other components that have failed.

This model uses flashing lights for errors – but I don’t get any. It just acts strangely. For example at the end of the main wash it just does a few spin ups and then just stops with water still in – no flashing lights it just seems in a paused mode.

If I then skip through the whole cycle, turn it off then on and move it onto rinse it gets in a pickle as it tries to spin (?) with water still in the machine. Therefore I have to turn off the rinse cycle as soon as it drains. Then if I put it back to the rinse cycle after the drain it rinses OK but while rinsing it does a spin which is a bit odd. At the end of the rinse it pauses but if I leave it alone, after about 15 minutes or so it goes into the spin cycle.

After the spin cycle it does not finish but pauses with the ‘start/puse’ button flashing as if I had paused it! From here I just skip to then end and take the washing out as I have, by a slow process, got it to do a full cycle!

Do you think itโ€™s worth replacing the PCB or just replace the machine?

    Thanks

Going by what youve posted it doesnt sound like a pcb fault, more likely the machine has detected an error and it will be stored in the memory of the pcb where an engineer can retrieve it by going into a special engineers test program.

The fault code system on your machine is a bit fickle in that it will only show some of the error codes to you, normally the ones you can resolve like filling/draining problems. Anything else is stored in the memory and the cyle will just pause or cancel itself.

You need an engineer for this one, don’t bin it just yet have a look at Repairs@ for an engineer in your area.

    Hi,

Regarding the ‘spin-during-rinse’, I believe some machines do actually achieve this, albeit briefly and at a low spin speed (eg; less than 500 rpm).

My grandfather had such a machine a Zanussi FJ1294 (I think) that spinned during rinse. Probably to achieve better rinse efficiency.

Conversely, my mother had a Hoover New Wave that spinned during wash; the ‘spin-bursts’. Again, to increase washing performance.

All very interesting Trilobite but not relevant to the problem Blenky has, thanks anyway………..

Blenky, indeed your machine requires expert attention to resolve the error, as farmboy suggests, try the link below ๐Ÿ™‚

I did attempt to use the repairs@ service on Wednesday last week (24/5). It recomended someone called Fridgeman 999 and I filled in the contact form. However no-one has yet contacted me and I have been too busy to chase.
