Zanussi washer plastic base

went to do a no spin fault and there is a plastic base on this which seems to serve no purpose other than to stop you getting at anything from the bottom?! No anti flood on it and doesn’t really look like it can be easily removed so seriously what is the point of them ??

To protect the floor from water seepage and carbon dust, as well as shaving a decibel or two from the noise rating, I would guess. Yes, the front does need to come off these machiines for some repairs, but it doesn’t bother me as I charge for my time.
