    Model: Zanussi ZWX 1605 5.5kg
    Type: P6849647
    Prod No: 914517270/00
    Serial No: 539 00005
    Made In Italy

After 14 years of flawless service it has stopped working. Called a local repair man with a good reputation, hand spun the drum, he listened over the phone and told me the bearings have gone and likely the carbon brushes won’t be far behind. Not worth spending money on a call-out and better to buy a new machine. That sound about right?

Would likely buy from https://www.nextdomesticappliances.co.uk/l/washing_machines (which is really AO) cos I have £100 vouchers to use. Been looking at:

Bosch 7kg WAN28050GB £329 or WAN24100GB £309 (splittable drum). Also another two WAN models at 8kg available. Think these models are exclusive to AO. Are they of even lesser quality than usual? Seems to be a few moans about not spinning and when they do the result is creased clothes.
AEG ProSense L6FB1741N £379. Very familiar functions to my old Zanussi. Sealed tub. Iffy build quality?
Siemens iq300 WM14N201GB £499. Same stable as Bosch but 5y warranty (I think!). Might be a sealed tub. Just a fancy Bosch and paying extra for 5 year warranty?

I would value your opinions. If Zanussi is rightly BER are the above reasonable choices or is cheap and cheerful other brands a better option?

I live alone. 3-4 small loads weekly but could change this to 1-2 medium loads weekly. Towel load now and again. Line dried. Standard size machine. No special needs. Budget variable. More interested in durability and longevity. Don’t need fancy bells and whistles or even a big load factor (old Zanussi is 5.5kg). May get a Miele one day but that’s in the future and might be overkill for a single person with a cat.

    Thank you for your help.

siemans is not sealed but same stable as bosch as is Neff as they are all one company ( you can check here https://www.siemens-home.bsh-group.com/uk/customer-service/support/search-parts)

AEG is part of Electrolux which incluses Zanussi sp AEG is Zanussi built

The WAN series bosch is ok

if you want best buy Miele

Thank you Dave for taking the time to reply. Maybe Bosch WAN is the way to go for now. I’ll have a look this evening.
