Zanussi washing drum not spinning in operation or stopped

Hi,

My 5 year old Zannusi ZWF 1221 washing machine has stopped spinning. Even when stopped you cannot manually turn, although the machine makes a noise as if it is looking to spin. Any idea if this can be fixed (and quickly) otherwise I need to buy another as kids clothes will mount quickly!

You should be able to turn by hand so either you have something like a sock jamming the drum (usually the sock would be wedged between the door seal and the drum) or the bearings have collapsed and seized

I can now turn anti clockwise but with resistance clockwise. I also took off the back to find belt off which has now been placed back on. However, although it is spinning in operation it does not sound right when moving anti clockwise. Do you think something is fundamentally wrong, or is there a way to check for something that might be jamming/rubbing as it does not move freely.
