    Zanussi WD

Initially the machine was showing an E91 error – communication error between UI and motherboard.

The front Temperature probe on the drying box had shorted against the machines cabinet. One of the wires had worked its way off and the terminal subsequently hit the metal cabinet just under the selection panel.

The dryer Module was clearly blown – several zapped small components, blown tracks and a domed capacitor.

I’ve replaced the NTC and dryer module and now have a different fault indicating the drying fan motor tacho is not reading correctly (ED8). Tech pdf states faulty dryer fan or dryer module.

I couldn’t determine which wires on the fan are for the tacho and as such am unsure whether the fan is at fault, or whether the dryer module is not correct, despite being new. I got the new dryer module from Connect distribution and it doesn’t seem impossible for them to send me the incorrect one.

Has anyone come across this issue before?

What wires on the dryer fan motor are for the tacho?

    Many thanks.

After returning and removing the WD board, inspecting the number and putting it back together, i tried the Dryer test diagnostic cycle and no errors were triggered.

Subsequently tried a timed dry program, which the machine completed without error – rather confusing, unless there was an issue with the connections when i initially fitted, seems unlikely, but possible, i guess.

Anyway, I’ve left it with the customer who has since used the machine/drying cycle a few times without problem.

    Many thanks.

Customer reports that the machine is working (and drying) correctly. So, who know’s what the ED8 error was all about. Possibly a poor connection, but seems unlikely as all the connections are idiot proof!

    Cheers!
